You allow yourself to be captured by vigilantes. While in their captivity, they feed you veritaserum. You are aware of this because while foolish enough to be captured, you are not quite so stupid as to take food or drink from them unless it has been prepared before you. Naturally, you would sooner die of thirst than betray the Dark Lord.
However they have somehow determined a means by which to force the potion down your throat. You have no wand, no weapons of a traditional sort, and you have been restrained in some fashion or another. Your captor begins to ask you of the Dark Lord's plans.
What is your response?
Yes, I am quite serious. I demand an answer from each and every one of you. And if you are unable to answer this simple question or your response in any way involves your eventual begging for forgiveness once you have returned home a traitor, then you ought to reconsider your place in the Dark Lord's ranks. Loyalty is nothing without sacrifice.
Rabastan Lestrange is no longer a member of the Dark Lord's inner circle.

I am not so foolish as to believe that the imperius curse will hold forever. And yet there are moments in which I wish-
It is a pointless indulgence. The curse will not hold forever and when he is returned to his friends, he will be but a shell of the boy that he was. Broken, ruined by all that he has done. I wonder, will they still accept him back into their fold when they see just what he has become? When they see him raise his wand and strike down one of their own? Just how far can their capacity for forgiveness extend? And that is if he can even bring himself to face them.
But that day is still a long way off and there is much work to be done. I believe this week shall be devoted to the fine art of torture. As much as I may lie and twist my words to praise him, there is truth in the fact that he would not be capable of half the magic I am teaching him if it were not already in his very blood. He belongs with us. That I have yet to push him to the curse's breaking point, yet to force him into something his mind rejects is proof enough of that. Tonight will be a test, but one at which I expect he will surpass my expectations yet again.

I find it highly disturbing that the Daily Prophet would even so much as imply that Albus Dumbledore's donation to a charity for the victims of a senseless terrorist attack might in some way buy my support for his misguided legislation. My appreciation for his gift hardly extends to support for his politics. It is ridiculous to attempt to mandate equality for people who are clearly not equals.

While I am hardly one to offer comment on the virtue of children and other such nonsense, I might remind many of you that this war we are fighting is to preserve our culture and way of life. It becomes difficult to argue that the traditional values of pureblood society ought to be upheld when members of some of our more prominent families are seen complaining about the pressures of marriage and family at every turn.
So that we are clear, if you insist upon whinging that your mother wishes you to marry - as if this has not been an expectation made clear since birth - do so in private.

As my husband is quite understandably occupied with his work, it falls to me to express my condolences on behalf of both of us for the victims of last night's terrible attack. I cannot even begin to imagine what might drive people to attack and destroy a peaceful wizarding village and murder the innocent people who had no greater agenda than a bit of evening shopping. And my commendation to those who so bravely fought against the Death Eaters. I cannot even imagine the carnage we would be reading of if it had not been for their presence.
In the wake of this devastating attack, Rodolphus and I will be establishing a charity to both fund the rebuilding of Hogsmeade and provide assistance to the wizarding families who have been injured or are suffering the loss of their loved ones. The details are being finalised and an official announcement is still forthcoming, but Rodolphus and I will be donating thirty thousand galleons from our personal vault to fund this effort. I would hope to see the rest of you donate what you are able.
This is the time to put aside our differences and stand together as one wizarding society to help those in need. |
